If you don't, try choosing Properties and then selecting the Driver tab. There should be an 'Update Driver' button. So, to remove each non-working miniport, do the following: 1.Right click on the non-working miniport, choose “Update Driver”.
2.Choose “Browse my computer”. 3.In the next window, choose “Let me pick driver from a list”. 4.Uncheck “Show compatible hardware”. From the “Manufacturer” list, choose “Microsoft”, and from the “Network Adapter” list, choose “Generic Mobile Broadband Adapter”. (It can be any device the user is allowed to uninstall.) 5.Back in the device manager, delete the device that just turned into the “Generic Mobile Broadband Adapter” device. Once done removing the bad miniports, reboot computer.
Don’t skip this, it’s important. Otherwise there is a change things will go bad again.

I had to go through this process for Windows 7, 64 bit. I had to obtain devcon.exe by installing the Windows Driver Kit (WDK) and using the copy in 8.0 Tools x64.

The second attempt succeeded. After a straight run of 21hrs of searching/sifting through all the stupid windows helpdesk post and other blogs - Found all useless. Here is what worked for me: Re-install ing WAN miniport (IP) device - First restore the backup key you deleted from the registry - steps 3-6 were the culprits. STEP -A - so before you start reinstalling - restore the registry key you might have saved before step 6 by exporting the key before delete. -just double click that backup file to autoinstall THis will bring back the entry in the device manager - albite with an unknown driver mark on the entry - goto Step B - Now the step 9 to 11 are all crap - windows does not allow you to access or change the netrasa.inf file. ACCESS DENIED!!!!
- instead you just need to follow some simple steps STEP -B - Now just scan for any hardware changes - windows automatically updates the WANminiport IP driver using the files windows/system32/ndistapi.sys & windows/system32/ndiswan.sys - otherwise you might have to locate this directory for the install to happen This works!!!! And wallah!!! Your netcon is back online:). If some one has 301 Error: 'This device is not working properly because Windows can not load the correct driver for it. (Code 31)' Here is the manual how to fix • Open the Device Manager. • Right-click mini-WAN port (Network Monitor) • Click Update Driver. • Select Search for drivers on this computer • Select Choose from a list of device drivers on my computer • Clear the checkbox Show compatible hardware • Select any other driver.
